What You’ll Do
As Director of Marketing & Commodities, you’ll serve as a vital connector between Missouri Farm Bureau and the state’s agricultural producers. You will lead strategic initiatives to support commodity groups, enhance farm income, and represent member interests in both market and policy arenas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate the work of commodity advisory committees and special interest groups across a wide range of sectors
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commodity organizations, checkoff councils, and the agribusiness community
- Plan and manage Missouri Farm Bureau’s annual Commodity Conference and Agritourism Conference
- Provide members with relevant and timely market information to improve understanding and profitability
- Develop international contacts to explore foreign market opportunities for Missouri producers
- Represent Missouri Farm Bureau policy positions at state and federal levels, including testimony, media responses, and legislative communication
- Collaborate with public affairs staff to deliver content for magazines, podcasts, social media, and newsletters
- Support legislative and regulatory efforts through policy development and stakeholder engagement
- Advise FARM-PAC trustees and coordinate with the legislative team on related functions
- Respond to member inquiries and support member engagement efforts across the state
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience (agricultural leadership, policy, market development, or similar fields)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience building relationships with industry partners, commodity groups, and producers
- Ability to travel across Missouri approximately 40% of the time
- Deep understanding of the agricultural landscape in Missouri or a strong desire to learn and lead within it
Requirements to Succeed
- Production agriculture experience or experience in organizations that serve farmers and ranchers is highly desirable
- Expertise in agricultural economics, policy, government relations, or business development
- Strong public speaking and writing ability for testimony, media relations, and internal communications
- Ability to operate a personal computer and manage communication tools and reports
- Willingness to engage in policy development, public affairs coordination, and legislative collaboration
