What You’ll Do

As an Assistant Underwriter, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our Property Underwriting team. You’ll evaluate routine new and existing business applications, assess risk, determine premiums, and ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines. Your work will help protect our policyholders while strengthening our reputation for exceptional service.

Key responsibilities include:

Approve applications and policy changes within your authority.
Review underwriting reports and forward cases beyond your authority to an Underwriter.
Draft correspondence to correct or modify policies.
Assist with problem policies and special cases.
Collaborate with agents, customer service representatives, and insureds to address inquiries and gather documentation.
Train and mentor less experienced team members.
Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
What You Bring
Associate’s degree and at least two years of related work experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret guidelines, rules, and technical documents.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in using a personal computer and common office applications.
Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus.
Requirements to Succeed
